5 Drills to Improve Your 40-Yard Dash Time
Speed separates good athletes from great ones. Whether you're preparing for a GIC combine or just want to get faster for your season, these five drills can make a real difference in your 40-yard dash time.
**1. Wall Drive Series (3 sets of 10 each leg)**
Stand facing a wall at arm's length. Lean forward slightly and drive one knee up explosively.
**2. A-Skip Progression (4 x 20 yards)**
Start with basic A-skips, emphasizing high knee drive and quick ground contact.
**3. Falling Starts (6-8 reps)**
Stand tall on your toes, then lean forward until gravity pulls you into a sprint.
**4. Resistance Band Sprints (4 x 20 yards)**
Attach a resistance band around your waist and sprint forward against the resistance.
**5. 10-Yard Burst Repeats (8-10 reps)**
From a 3-point stance, explode out and sprint through the 10-yard mark at absolute maximum effort.
**Pro Tip:** Film yourself running from the side. Small form corrections can yield big time drops.
Good luck at your next GIC combine!
